He Knows

As we follow Jesus through the eyes of John's Gospel, we see always a step ahead of the thinking of others. Always knowing what they are murmuring or whispering.

Today they are speaking behind His back about who He is. He knows what they are saying, and what they are thinking, and He moves to counter their thoughts with clearer statements about His identity. We should be very clear about one thing: He knows our thoughts, too. He knows our doubts, our fears, our indignations, our frustrations, our anger, our worry. None of it is hidden from Him.

Yet, He wants us to disclose to Him anyway. Inviting Him into our thoughts, doubts, fears, frustrations, indignations, anger and worry. Because even though He knows, without us asking, what we need - He wants us to trust Him with our needs, and our struggles. There are two really important reasons for this: one - this is what people in real relationship do - they share the struggles, and two - He is the one who can do something about it, and He longs to do so, but will not force Himself or His will upon us. Like a true gentleman, He waits patiently for our invitation.

TODAY, this week, this LENT, invite Him into the mess that is your life, or your heart, or your living room. He wants to be in ALL OF IT with you. We can't hide it anyway, so we might as well come clean, so that He can make us clean.
