So Childish

There is such a small window of opportunity in our lives to relish being a child, when we honestly think - being a kid is great. In today's world, I feel like that time is shrinking. So, what is it that makes childhood great?

I guess there could be a variety of answers to this, but what strikes me is the carefree nature of childhood, nothing too heavy to worry about. Why is that? Because the parents are doing enough worrying for two (or more)! When we know we are being cared for, that someone else is making the real critical decisions and we only have to worry about what flavor of freeze pop we are going to eat, the stress levels are WAY DOWN.

God wants us to have this feeling again. He wants to take care of the big decisions (the life and death stuff) and provide for our needs. But in order for this to happen, we have to turn things over to Him. We have to allow Him to provide what He will provide.

Now I am not advocating a 'Jesus take the wheel' sort of approach where we are just along for the ride, but a sense that God's Will, which we CAN know through Scripture and the Tradition and teaching of the Church is the best for us and so we follow it. When I was a kid, we ate what Mom put on the table, and we liked it (mostly because she was a great cook). It was always there and there was always plenty. We cooperated by being there on time, washing our hands and minding our manners (usually).

Becoming reliant on God is much the same way. We still have things to do within His Will, and some of them are more challenging than others, but our heart is free in that we know that His will always has a positive effect. Sometimes here in this world and sometimes as a promise for the next. Be a little childish, because we aren't capable ourselves of the things God has in store for us, we will HAVE to rely upon him.
